Basic Operation & Applications of Van de Graaff Generator

Abstract


The Van de Graaff generator is an electrostatic generator that has many applications. First, it was primarily used in particle accelerators, but later it became an important educational tool used in classrooms and laboratories to demonstrate the concepts of electrostatics. In this project we explain how the Van de Graaff works, and explain the electrostatics principles behind its operation. We also attempt to build a simple Van de Graaff generator
